Winter Storm Xantos

Watching the Weather Channel all day Saturday. Knowing eventually we were going to get a visit soon enough, led me to writing a list of what I can do instead of feeling depressed as I have been waiting for spring, waiting for the spring flowers to bloom.

Upon going to bed last night (12am), there still wasn’t any snow, just the wind, I was hopefull that we were going to be spared. Oh was I wrong.

Woke up to a lot of blowing snow, and high winds. Took out my list of everything that needed done and that is exactly what I am doing today is a little Sprinter cleaning ( spring and winter put together). I know its not a word, But if the guy on the weather channel can call it that so can I.

I have cook books scattered all around the dining room table, Still looking for a recipe for Alfredo Sauce (please share if you do)?  Plan on sewing a new outfit and pajamas today too.

Cleaning out the kitchen sounds like a lot of fun for a day like today. Maybe even knitting a blanket as I watch Xanto whip the tree’s back and forth.

How many of you are dealing with the bad weather?

What activities do you like to do in bad weather?

  1. Bad weather approaching.
I’m impressed at all the things you are trying to get done.
In such weather I do not feel like doing anything.

(I have not tried it, but it sounds appealing.
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil or butter
4 cloves garlic, pressed or finely-minced
    3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1 cup chicken stock
    1 cup low-fat milk
    3/4 cup freshly-grated Parmesan cheese
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    DIRECTIONS:
Heat olive oil (or melt butter) in a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Add garlic and saute one minute, stirring occasionally, until fragrant. Sprinkle with flour, and stir to combine. Saute for an additional minute to cook the flour, stirring occasionally.
Slowly add chicken broth, whisking to combine until smooth. Whisk in milk, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let cook for an additional minute until thickened, then stir in Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper until the cheese melted. Reduce heat to medium-low.)

The kitchen I let go til this morning. I will be making this maybe tonight for the chicken cordon bleu pizza. Thank you for writing this down for me. It means a lot.

  3. It’s cold in Ohio. Snow expected tomorrow morning but warming up some for the weekend so it won’t last. I have used this cold weather to clean out my flower beds and garden. Hang in there the snow will melt fast!

  4. I feel your pain Spring’s evil delay, but I console myself with the fact that the NH summers can be as gorgeous as anything possible. Bake. Enjoy a final hot chocolate. Make one final winter stew. Flip Mother Nature off, and know the flower buds will be there in a few moments 😉

    1. Thank you for your beautiful words. We are now feeling the spring. 56 for the high today, Tomorrow in the high 60’s. Although the yard is still fully covered by snow. In one of the flower beds, the Daffodils are peeking through.
