My favorite kind of Thanksgiving is when the men are hooting and shouting while watching their football games and the women are working and once in a while singing, while preparing the many dishes that will be sitting on the table along side the turkey. The kids play or get on their electronics(sad).
Finally the turkey is ready to be carved and everyone gathers in the kitchen the first cut is made. While the rest of the turkey is carved, the family moves to the dining room table with laughter and the chattering. Enter the turkey and all you can her is the ohs and awes.
Everyone quiets as we go around the table and say what we are thankful for. I think about this statement as I am thankful for so much and it would take a whole day to say what I am thankful for. At the same time that we are with friends and family, I also think about the people who aren’t as fortunate as we are, and those who are no longer with us.
